Every summer for the past four years Paul Baniel, CFO of the Packers, has strapped on a harness and rappelled Over the Edge of Lambeau Field to raise funds for Special Olympics Wisconsin. This July, his children will follow in his footsteps.
“My daughters jumped – pun intended – at the opportunity to go Over the Edge with me and raise funds for Special Olympics,” Baniel said. “They enjoy helping others and this event allows them to have some fun as they do so.”
This year, Over the Edge will take place at Lambeau Field on Saturday, August 9. The Baniel Family is well on their way to reach their fundraising goal of $1000.
“I have quite a few friends who have supported my past leaps with just a simple ask,” he said. “I’ve learned that a lot of people appreciate what Special Olympics does and are happy to help in even a small way. The more funds we raise, the more athletes Special Olympics can serve.”
In 2010, Paul joined the Special Olympics Wisconsin Board of Directors. Three years later, Paul is ready to tackle his forth jump at Lambeau.
“It’s a lot of fun,” he said. “I feel very safe in the harness and it’s a fun way to conquer any fears you may have.”
Over the Edge will debut at a new location in 2014 – Miller Park in Milwaukee on July 19, giving baseball fans the opportunity to hit one out of the ballpark. To sign up or donate, visit SpecialOlympicsWisconsin.org.
